Existing Nursing Facility Renovation
San Simeon by the Sound will renovate it’s oldest structure to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and guidelines, thereby updating it’s outmoded capital plant, which predates the currently desired state of healthcare facilities. Additionally, San Simeon will restructure and renovate this building to improve the quality, stability and efficiency of healthcare delivery to our residents and their families.
Renovations will address both intrinsic (structural, efficiency) and extrinsic (aesthetic, functional) benefits to our clients and their families. To that end, intrinsic renovations will include both our East and West Wing residential spaces which will be renovated to allow conversion of 4 person ward rooms to private & semi-private accommodations with individual bathing facilities.
Additionally, the shape of the lobby will be restructured to reduce wind from the Long Island Sound and the the entrance area will be renovated with automatic doors, allowing fluid entrance for wheelchair and stretcher accessibility. Benefits of these renovations will also allow residents access to the patio independently. In addressing extrinsic benefits, family meeting areas will be added along with increased recreation areas and enhanced dining facilities. Updates in materials, fixtures and furniture will also be part of this special campaign.
San Simeon aims to create an inviting facility to insure to the greatest degree possible that our residents feel at home away from home. A home-like setting is restorative for the guests and reassuring for the family who frequently can be anxious about placement of a loved one, especially if the setting is institutional. It has been proven that such supports decrease wandering, reduce the potential for depression and prevent exacerbation of chronic conditions, resulting in reduction in medical services and costs.
Existing Facility Renovation & Restructuring Projected Cost: $4.4 million
