Short Term Rehabilitatiaon
Promotes Recovery
Residents choose San Simeon because of our long history of caring and our reputation for
successful patient recovery. When requiring short term rehabilitation from an injury, surgery
or illness following hospitalization, patients come to San Simeon for intensive physical,
occupational or speech therapy prior to returning home. With individualized treatment plans,
patients regain their strength, mobility, confidence and independence and are often able to
return to their own home in just a few weeks.
Unique & Exciting Activities
Therapeutic recreation programs offer residents diverse activities and opportunities.
Activities include music therapy, art classes, adult education, gardening,
computer classes in the resident computer room and pet therapy. Trips to
the beach and waterside restaurants offer breathtaking views of Gardiner’s
Bay from Orient Beach State Park. Religious services and beauty parlor services
are available on a weekly basis.
The Horizon Program
Our specialized Horizon Program is geared for residents with Alzheimer’s
Disease or related dementias. This secured environment has been created
to motivate, soothe and offer support to residents, decreasing agitation
and increasing socialization. A beautiful enclosed courtyard, with attractive
hand-painted frescos, enables residents to enjoy the fresh air and outdoor
gardens.
Dining-on-the-Go
Residents at San Simeon by the Sound enjoy the variety of Dining-on-the-Go, alternating
between one of our two beautiful dining rooms or on the outdoor patio (weather permitting).
Culinary staff serves a range of deliciously prepared nutritious meals each day, including
freshly baked breads. Menus are developed by our licensed dietitian and customized for each
resident based on medical condition and food preferences. Recipes are approved by the
resident dining committee and include many cultural specialties. Barbeques, holiday dinners
and parties offer mouth-watering favorites for residents and their families.
